The history of the Hotel Moosegg
In 1904, the Kurhaus was built by the owner of the brickworks, Mr. Weibel von Oberburg. Three years later, on December 1, it changed hands and was sold to Mr. F. Schmalz.
Electric light was installed in 1917. Up to this point, gas had been used. Another significant step forward was the acquisition of the hotel's own water source on the Blasenfluh in 1926. This measure made it possible to equip the first rooms in the main building with running water.
This resulted in the distinction between winter and summer houses. The main building, equipped with heating and hot water, became the winter house, while the outbuilding, which did not have these amenities, was only used in summer. Twelve years later, the outbuilding was modernized.
In 1955, a new road was built from Emmenmatt to Moosegg, with the Kurhaus contributing 48,000 francs. Almost 30 years later, the connection between Moosegg and Biglen was established, which the Schmalz family had been waiting for over 40 years.
The Lehmann family opened the Kurhaus on February 15, 1994 under the new name "Hotel Moosegg".
In 2015, major renovation work began on the rooms and the façade. Further renovations were carried out in the following years.
From 2024, the hotel will continue to operate under the new name "Boutique Hotel Moosegg".
